Go To Meeting Best Practices
Best practices are those ways of doing things that can described, shared and widely practiced and, over time, become a standard (norm) for consistently achieving the results we want.
- Be prepared. Planning an online meeting like GoToMeeting (GTM) is as important as planning one for the face-to-face (F2F) environment.
- Use GTM when you have one or more visual components to the meeting e.g., PowerPoint slides, application sharing, web tour or if you want to use and save the chat portion of a meeting. Otherwise, a conference call may serve your purposes best.
- Schedule and send your meeting announcement ahead of time. Regardless of when the announcement is sent, send a reminder the day before or day of your meeting to assist meeting participants.
- Use the chat feature to engage participants. From polling to capturing questions and meeting notes, the chat is a useful tool to support learning without interrupting the presenter.
