Wiki Sandbox
From The Communities That Care WIKI
The creation of something new is not accomplished by intellect but the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.

Welcome to the Wiki Sandbox, a virtual learning and practiced playground where there is no fear of doing anything wrong because we are here to play in this new read/write web environment. Here you can experiment, learn and get comfortable and confident with the Wiki. Our suggestion is to click on the edit link (to the right) and then edit something already here or type in a new sentence on the page. Click save when you're done and see your handywork. You can go back and click edit again and try some of the formatting code (you'll see the buttons just like in a word document) once you are in the editor. Highlight text and click on bold or italics. Paste in a URL or try the code for embedding the URL in text like the instructions link that follows. Click here for more Instructions like bulleted lists, blockquotes, subheadings, new lines.

5. This is LaDonna's header
Bold is easy.
Italics is easy too.
Let's try underline.
This is an example of a table:
| This | is |
|---|---|
| a | table |
This is another way to do a table. I adjusted the border to 3 instead of one. It gives a heavier look to the table.
| This is 3x3 table. | This second column. | This is third column. |
|---|---|---|
| One | Two | Three |
| Libby asks if the column width expands with the text? | LaDonna, yes. | Joanne |
You may also visit the Media Wiki page for more on using tables.

- Unordered lists are easy to do:
- Start every line with a star.
- More stars indicate a deeper level.
- Previous item continues.
- A newline
- Start every line with a star.
- in a list
marks the end of the list.
- Of course you can start again.

Testing Ground
This is a test to see if we can redirect from an image itself, as in click the image to navigate.
Okay, even though I've added the url it takes me to the image file on the wiki, how do I get it to go to a different location?
Media wiki shows the following at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Navigational_image
<imagemap> Image:Foo.jpg|200px|Help on images (text outside link area)
- you need to adjust the parameters to the image size
rect 1 1 300 200 Help on images desc bottom-left
- default Help:Images_and_other_uploaded_files does not work yet
desc bottom-left </imagemap>
When I pull the actual code for the page it looks like this:
<imagemap> Image:Foo.jpg|200px|Help on images (text outside link area) rect 1 1 300 200 Help on images desc bottom-left </imagemap>
So I uploaded a file adjusted to 300x200 JarlaConsult.jpg and tried this: <imagemap> Image:JarlaConsult.JPG|200px|Link embedded in image (text outside link area) rect 1 1 300 200 [[1]] desc bottom-left </imagemap>
and now I'm stuck again. Hm-m-m-m

When editing we have two choices, one is a tab and the other is a box at the bottom of the page. Don't forget to preview before save and then enter a link if needed. Then, SAVE! ! ! ; - )
How can I become a better sandbox player, asked Bernie?
